This whimsical barn quilt is the result of a vision by art teacher, Cathie Ruzzi, formerly at Heritage Instructional Services, a homeschool tutorial in Catonsville, Maryland. In the fall of 2023, she asked her 5th & 6th grade students to create an original barn quilt design after doing research, where they looked at existing barn quilts, discussed the history of barn quilts and learned about the beauty of Garrett County and its resources. After assessing their amazing submissions, this design was chosen to be painted and displayed as a barn quilt in Garrett County.

The winning artist was 5th grader, Payton Kessler, and you can see her original artwork below. The design was adapted to be able to be taped/painted as a barn quilt and to be able to be replicated as a fabric quilt.

The barn is owned by Wanda Reynolds, who also helped sponsor the block. You may pull in the Y-shaped drive to take pictures and to turn around.
