The Sunbonnet Sue with Butterfly was sponsored by Gail Orvos in honor of her aunt, Eleanor Snider, who lived in Cumberland all her life. She passed away in May 2010. She was an avid quilter and a quilters’ guild member in Cumberland. Eleanor loved purple, so that color was used in the barn quilt. The design was one of the many Eleanor made as a quilt by hand.
The beautiful barn is being refurbished by the owners, Kris & Gina Yoder. The barn has already gotten a lovely facelift, and more renovations are ongoing. As such, please stay across the road to take your photos of this one, as it’s still an active construction site.
Morning and late afternoon are best for photos.
Location:
Take Rt. 219 south from Oakland 4.5 miles. Turn left onto Blue Ribbon Road. Go 3/4 mile to the barn quilt on the left. You may park in the Heidi’s Cafe & Bakery parking lot across the road for pictures (and to check out the adjoining Blue Ribbon Farms Petting Zoo!)
